OCTOPLOID

Octoploid is the solo band of Olli-Pekka Laine (Amorphis, Barren Earth, Mannhai), whose debut album Beyond The Aeons was released in July 2024 via the Reigning Phoenix Music label.

The band’s music combines elements of 90s death/black metal, 70s prog and 90s psychedelic rock. In one sentence, Octoploid has been described as “Classic Death Prog”. The core of the band includes drummer Mikko Pietinen, Peter Salonen on guitars and Antti Myllynen on keyboards. Mikko Pietinen is an experienced and versatile drummer with a heavy background in stoner rock (Mannhai) and Finnish mainstream pop rock (Kasmir, etc.). Peter Salonen plays in The Kinky Thing, a tribute act to the Finnish psychedelic rock legend Kingston Wall. Antti Myllynen is known from his work with Barren Earth.
