FESTIVAL STAGES

KARHU MAIN STAGE

The iconic main stage, known as the flagship of Tuska, will shine next summer in the colors of its long-time partner, the equally iconic Karhu. Standing as a landmark on Suvilahti’s main field, the Karhu Main Stage will host some of the hottest international names in metal: pioneers of the Gothenburg sound In Flames, power metal’s leading force Powerwolf, deathcore phenomenon Lorna Shore, the unstoppable party metal machine Electric Callboy, the brutally intense deathcore juggernaut Slaughter To Prevail, metalcore heavyweight Motionless In White, extreme metal legends Cradle Of Filth, hardcore-driven Knocked Loose, and our Swedish neighbors’ unstoppable Orbit Culture.

Representing the top of the Finnish metal scene on the Karhu Main Stage are the legendary cello trio Apocalyptica, Finnish metal powerhouse Mokoma, Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus performing their classic album “Itku pitkästä ilosta”, the crowd-moving Turmion Kätilöt, and the melodic death metal group Horizon Ignited, showcasing the future of the genre.

The Karhu Main Stage kicks off Tuska on Friday, June 27 with Horizon Ignited and closes this year’s festivities in the ecstatic grip of Lorna Shore on Sunday evening.

RADIO CITY STAGE

At Tuska, Radio City has taken the tent stage under its wing to ensure that its dominance on the airwaves translates directly into festival energy. The Radio City Stage will host some of the sharpest names in metalcore, including Swedish favorites Imminence, who recently wowed audiences on their Finnish club tour, and the blazing hot Australians Polaris. Flying the flag for deathcore on this stage is the American powerhouse Whitechapel, while Sweden’s Thrown spices up their core sound with a strong dose of nu-metal flavor.

Taking a more unconventional route on the tent stage are ouija-pop artist Bambie Thug, electronic/industrial soundscape weaver Skynd, and the genre-defying oddity of alternative music, Kim Dracula.

Representing the Finnish hardcore scene, one of the country’s most renowned punk bands Endstand will show how it’s done in the HC world. On the other end of the spectrum, French act Alcest will deliver their signature blend of post-black metal and blackgaze. Japanese band JILUKA brings a modern take on heavy music with their striking combination of electro-goth metal and djentcore.

Also gracing the stage is Charlotte Wessels, who rose to international fame as the vocalist of Delain, now performing her intricate and stylish brand of melodic metal with her own band. The stage will also feature the charismatic Jarkko Martikainen, and to top it all off, Finnish hitmakers Cyan Kicks will deliver their irresistibly catchy radio-ready anthems.

NORDIC ENERGY STAGE

Tuska’s second outdoor stage will be known this year as the Nordic Energy Stage, named after our newest main partner, energy company Fortum. This near-main-stage-sized beast can fit a crowd the size of a small town, with great visibility from every angle. And there’s certainly plenty to see:

Bringing international star power to the Nordic Energy Stage are UK power metal turbo DragonForce, Swedish melodic death metal supergroup The Halo Effect, American alternative hard rock band Nothing More, the fast and furious Italian combo Wind Rose, known for their blend of power and folk metal, gothic rock top act Cemetery Skyline, and Norwegian group Blood Command, who deliver an infectious and eclectic mix of punk rock and metal.

The Finnish talent is just as impressive. Fans of traditional heavy music are in for a real treat as Battle Beast, Tarja, and Marko Hietala all take the stage — each with their own set this time. Longtime Tuska favorite Insomnium blends classic Scandinavian melodeath elements with Finnish melancholy, Korpiklaani cranks up the energy with their wild folk metal, Havukruunu dives deep into black and folk metal with surprising twists, and Arion showcases the brilliance of today’s melodic metal scene.

KVLT STAGE BY INFERNO

On the intimate indoor KVLT Stage by Inferno, you’ll find more marginal, rising, and perhaps slightly offbeat acts—artists who, in their own twisted way, fit perfectly into the lineup of a metal festival.

Once again, the range of artists taking to the KVLT Stage is incredible. Bringing their own flavor to the mix are Norway’s infectiously pop-tinged stoner gem Bokassa, the mustachioed heavy metal battalion Tyrantti, the psychedelically explosive Octoploid, and French act Eihwar, who deliver hypnotic and pagan Viking trance.

For those seeking a more aggressive edge, the stage offers Cryptic Hatred, who deliver old-school death metal with youthful energy and a modern twist; Tallinn’s death metal machine Intrepid; Turku-based Sepulchral Curse, who also deal in death metal with their own local flair; and the grindcore duo Vähäkyrö Drive-by.

The new wave of metalcore is represented by the progressive and artistic Royal Sorrow, as well as the modern, Pori-based Countless Goodbyes. Enemies Everywhere ranks among the finest in the current deathcore scene, while Sorretun Voima brings extra fire with their rap-metal fusion. Noiduin combines Finnish folklore and mythology in their music, performed with self-built traditional instruments. The Vantages, meanwhile, charm with an irresistible blend of vintage guitar rock and early-2000s gothic nostalgia.

Adding her own unique touch to the KVLT Stage lineup is award-winning comedian Kaisa Pylkkänen.
