KUTOJA

KUTOJA
A multi-artistic ritual
Contemporary dance theatre Mamia Company brings a multi-artistic work to the TUSKA side show programme, in which visual art, performance and dance intertwine into a web of time, reality and dreams.
At the heart of the work is Kutoja – an ancient being, the guardian of the passage of time and existence, who creates not only the fabric, but reality itself.

The twelve figures created through the means of visual art represent temporal archetypes. The figures not only reflect human emotions and inner states, but also the cycle of the year, the phases of the moon and the personifications of dreams.

Kutoja’s soul power permeates the figures – through movement, shadow and impression, they can be sensed, even if their names are not spoken.

Kutoja`s work is eternal and cyclical. Its power can cause cracks in the surface of reality: the boundaries between dreams and waking life may blur, history may begin to repeat itself – or be forgotten altogether.

If a person encounters Kutoja in their dreams, the tone of their life’s thread may change. They may begin to hear thequiet rhythm of the weave – the heartbeat of reality.
