RIVERS OF NIHIL

Hailing from the state of Pennsylvania, Rivers of Nihil who are known for their extremely technical death metal, will finally be hitting the stage at Tuska.

Signed to the renowned Metal Blade Records, Rivers of Nihil was formed in 2009, and their debut album The Conscious Seed of Light was produced by none other than metal wizard Erik Rutan, known for his work with Hate Eternal and Cannibal Corpse. The band’s most recent release is a highly praised, self-titled masterpiece that dropped just recently.

Rivers of Nihil’s musical style is a fusion of technical prowess, crushing death metal riffs, and shifting atmospheres, often drawing from dark and introspective themes. The band’s name itself alludes to existential and nihilistic concepts, which are a recurring presence in their lyrics and album concepts.

Over the years, Rivers of Nihil’s sound has evolved significantly: while their early releases emphasized traditional technical death metal, their later albums incorporate influences from progressive rock, ambient music, and even jazz.
