MAJESTICA
The Swedish herald of symphonic power metal, Majestica, drilled its way into the heart of the genre with their 2019 debut “Above The Sky.” The album is pure melodic fireworks, having already been streamed over 17 million times. A year later, Majestica made the metal crowd choke on their eggnog by releasing a full-blown holiday musical. On “A Christmas Carol,” the classic tale meets Rhapsody-influenced orchestral power metal, seasoned with a touch of cinematic compositional brilliance. The result was a shamelessly ambitious, theatrical, and virtuously performed Christmas album.
Majestica’s latest release, the thunderous “Power Train” album, came roaring in like a locomotive in February 2025. “Power Train” is true power metal, with symphonic and epic elements pushed to the extreme.
“We’ve taken the melodies and the Power Metal elements from our first album and mixed it with some of the choir and orchestral arrangements from the last one – perfect mix!” describes vocalist/guitarist Tommy Johansson.
The production process of “Power Train” was very much like that of the previous albums; the band once again handled the songwriting, recording, and production themselves — this time in their new home base, Majestic Studios. Back behind the mixing desk was Jonas Kjellgren — the man who nailed the sound for “A Christmas Carol” and the “Metal United” single.
Now picture yourself standing on the platform at Tuska Station — the power train’s whistle is screaming, smoke is rising from the chimney, and you’re about to embark on a journey of a lifetime. Whether you like it or not.
