PAIN
Pain is an industrial metal project led by Swedish musician, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Peter Tägtgren.
The project began as a one-man creation: all vocals, instruments, and production were done by Tägtgren. Well, they still are but these days there’s more to the story. Pain has also grown into a significant touring lineup, which now includes, in addition to Peter, his son Sebastian Tägtgren (drums), Jonathan Olsson (bass), and Sebastian Svalland (guitar).
When Pain’s debut album was released in 1997, it was entirely Peter’s solo effort. By that point, he already had four successful albums with his death metal band Hypocrisy, but also a bunch of ideas that didn’t fit Hypocrisy’s style.
This is how the story of Pain began. A story that includes eight albums and such hits as “End Of The Line,” “Shut Your Mouth,” “Same Old Song,” “Follow Me,” “Coming Home,” and “Party In My Head.”
If you’re a metal fan and have somehow been living under a rock, oblivious to who Peter Tägtgren is, you’ve almost certainly encountered his work somewhere along the way. In addition to Hypocrisy and Pain, he is also one of the driving forces behind the industrial metal band Lindemann, together with Rammstein vocalist Till Lindemann.
On top of that, Tägtgren owns the world-famous Abyss Studio, where he has produced such promising artists as Amon Amarth, Amorphis, Celtic Frost, Dark Funeral, Destruction, Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Joe Lynn Turner, Marduk, Possessed, Sabaton, and Septicflesh.
It’s been a while since Pain’s last visit to Tuska but who’s counting the years. Välkommen tillbaka!
