Lunarsea

Italian Lunarsea was born from the ashes of the defunct power-prog outfit Hollowearth in the early 2000s, founded by the band’s driving force Fabiano Romagnoli. After a couple of demos, Lunarsea was signed to the Greek label Burning Star Records, and the band’s first full-length album, Hydrodynamic Wave, was released in 2006.

The debut album was received extremely well by both audiences and the media, despite an unusual circumstance: the recording contract and the subsequent debut album came about without the band ever having performed live on stage. Hydrodynamic Wave went on to become the label’s best-selling release of all time.

In 2008, the band began working on their second album, Route Code Selector, which was released in 2009 through the Italian label Punishment18 Records. The second album by Italy’s leading melodic death metal band was a clear step forward from an already impressive debut.

After six years, two demos, and two full-length albums, Lunarsea finally decided to focus on live performances.

The band’s third album, Hundred Light Years, released in 2013, was recorded at Outer Sound Studios and mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox. The fourth album, Earthling-Terrestre, released in 2019, was selected by several online magazines as one of the best melodic death metal albums of 2020.

Lunarsea’s most recent and seventh official release, ELEMENTI – Live in Tokyo, was released at the end of 2025.
