ENDSTAND
Endstand is one of the most famous hardcore punk bands from Finland, and considering the rich Finnish HC heritage, that is a bold take. Endstand was founded in the small town of Riihimäki in 1996 and they were a part of the original lineup of the internationally renowned DIY punk label Combat Rock Industry, along with Manifesto Jukebox and Wasted. Endstand released five albums and played hundreds of gigs in the Finnish and European punk scene before disbanding in 2008. Endstand’s influence on the development of Finnish punk and DIY culture is virtually second to none.
The last time Endstand performed live was at their sold-out farewell show at Nosturi in Helsinki, at the Combat Rock’s ten-year anniversary party in 2010. Now the guys decided to get the band back together one more time to perform at Combat Rock’s 25th anniversary party Tavara-asema in Tampere this coming May. I don’t know if the demand surprised anyone anymore, but Endstand will be playing sold-out shows on two consecutive nights. Now that the Endstand-machine is well-oiled and functioning, we fortunately managed to lure them to Tuska, while they’re at it!
