Whitechapel, the American deathcore group named after a London neighborhood with a shady stamp in its history, will be playing Tuska for the first time. The band from Tennessee, founded in 2006, has always belonged to the absolute top tier of their genre, and it’s almost a miracle that Whitechapel hasn’t commanded the Tuska stage before.
Whitechapel approach their deathcore with a very progressive angle and the band members’ personal death metal and hardcore influences shine through clearly. As a follow-up to eight studio albums, Whitechapel recently released the banging “A Visceral Retch” single and as a sign of things to come, that’s nothing short of amazing.
