TUSKA 2022 GATHERED RECORD-BREAKING 49 000 FESTIVAL GUESTS
We’re back! Metal is doing great and Tuska’s record year is here to prove it. Twentythird annual Tuska festival gathered 49 000 metal enthusiasts to Suvilahti, Helsinki. This is the biggest number of visitors in the festival’s history. Saturday hit the peak of 17 500 metalheads with Friday and Sunday trailing with 16 500 and 15 000, respectively. Thank you to you all!
Program wise the biggest draws of the weekend were the headliners, Korn, Mercyful Fate and Deftones. The biggest crowd of the weekend in front of the Radio Rock Main Stage belonged to local heavy hitters Amorphis with Stam1na, Kreator and Devin Townsend being strong crowd pleasers as well. Ukrainian Jinjer was the absolute people’s favorite at the Tent Stage. Tuska Forum by HS -speaker program provided interesting conversations around the values of metal culture.
Tuska festival area was developed and improved greatly by relocating the stages and putting emphasis on the festival experience. Wristband exchange was moved entirely to shopping center Redi. Festival Director Eeka Mäkynen reflects:
”It was amazing to see the Tuska metal community unite once again. This now feels even more important than maybe ever before. Tuska community worked so seamlessly with the festival organization. We have to do this every year!”
