BODY ART Area
The ever-so-popular Body Art area is coming to Tuska as the cooperation between Tuska and Impossible Bodyart continues. The venue is placed in Kattilahalli and there permanent memories are made. The crew consists of skilful tattoo artist, experienced body piercers, a shibari artist, a massager, and a team of those who play with hooks. So, whether you wish to stay skin deep or all go the way to rope or hook suspensions we’re there to help. This year there is a private area reserved to shibari aka rope bondage. The area is facilitated by Studio Moth.
Body art and body sovereignty are inseparable due to the permanency and intensity of ornamenting the body with tattoos or piercings. The pain, intense or minor, is an unavoidable part of the art. The pain of getting pierced or tattooed needs to be accepted into the body regardless the intensity of the process. The feeling can be used as a tool to make the moment unforgettable as well as in the mind and on the skin or to explore and exercise body sovereignty. Though, at festivals the body piercings and tattoos are often souvenirs in the first place, getting one may be exiting and even a bit scary. Therefore, our team focuses on costumer encounter. Your decision, our expertise.
Walk-in tattoos and piercings are available during the entire festival. So, no bookings, but first in line, first served. We focus on smaller tattoos, which can be chosen from flash books or you can bring your own idea. You can choose the artist or take the first available tattooer and, of course, you can check their work beforehand. Shibari and body suspensions are consulted and booked at the spot.
There is also the possibility to study body art from a distance. The Body Art area has a stage on which shibari art, hook suspension, and circus performances are facilitated. Shibari art is performed by Studio Moth and the Sideshow division of Impossible Bodyart’s crew will entertain the audience with blood, sweat, and tears. This year the performances are accompanied by a professional circus artist who will do a suspension like never seen before in the Body Art area.
